Running the business
documenso.com

Documenso is an electronic signature service whose code is public, so a business that cannot send contracts to somebody else's server can run the whole thing on its own. The hosted version behaves like the incumbents: fields, signing order, audit trail and a completed PDF. Five documents a month cost nothing. Self-hosting means the signing infrastructure becomes yours to keep running, which is a real commitment and the reason most people take the hosted plan.
The hosted service has a free tier at five documents a month with up to ten recipients each, then Individual at $25 a month for unlimited signing, Teams at $40 including five users with additional seats at $8, and Platform at $250 for deep integration work. Every paid card states billed yearly, and the annual totals of $300, $480 and $3,000 are what appear, so a monthly-billed price is not published. Self-hosting is the other path and costs whatever your infrastructure costs.
Somebody who sends contracts regularly and objects, on principle or on policy, to routing them through a closed platform. The hosted plan is the practical choice for most and the code being open is the reason to trust it. A business that actually needs the documents on its own infrastructure should budget for running the service, which is a standing commitment rather than a one-off install.
Take the hosted plan unless there is a specific reason the documents cannot leave your infrastructure, because self-hosting a signing service means you now own its uptime and its backups. Five documents a month is a real free tier for somebody sending the occasional contract.
