darktable manages a photo library in a database and develops raw files without ever altering the original, which is the same arrangement Lightroom sells a subscription for. Colour management runs the whole way to print and the processing uses the graphics card. It is open source and there is no paid tier, no account and no upload. The interface was built by photographers for photographers and it shows in both directions, so expect to read the manual.

There is no pricing page because there is no price. darktable is released under the GPL 3.0, has no paid tier, no hosted version and no account, and is funded by the people who write it. What that costs instead is the learning curve and the absence of anybody to ask when something breaks, against a community and a manual that are both unusually good.

A photographer who shoots raw and does not want a subscription attached to their own archive, and who is comfortable spending an evening learning an interface built around a processing pipeline. It rewards that time with control few paid tools offer. Anybody who wants to open a photo and press one button will find this actively unpleasant and should buy something built around presets.
