Vimeo is where a video goes when it has to sit on your own site without YouTube's suggestions appearing over the end of it. The player is customisable, privacy controls are real, and the review tools are decent. Its audience discovery never materialised, so treat it as hosting rather than as a place people will find you.

A free basic plan exists. Starter is $12 a month billed annually with one user and 2TB. Standard is $25 with 5 users, 4TB, player branding and lead capture. Advanced is $75 with 10 users, 7TB and hosted live events. Enterprise is quoted. Annual billing is about 40 percent cheaper than monthly. A free trial is offered without a stated length.

A course creator or business hosting video on their own site where YouTube's suggestions would be a leak in the funnel. Anybody hoping to be discovered should be publishing to YouTube instead.
