Powtoon builds the whiteboard and cartoon explainer style that training departments have used for a decade, and it has since bolted on avatars, dubbing and text to speech from other vendors. Templates carry most of the work. The house style is recognisable enough that a viewer who has seen one Powtoon will know they are watching another.

Free gives 720p, three minutes and a Powtoon watermark. Lite is $15 a month billed yearly, removing the watermark on 5 exports a month, allowing 1080p MP4 downloads, ten minute videos and 300 AI credits a year. Professional is $40 a month billed yearly, against $70 monthly, with the full template library, unlimited premium exports, twenty minute videos and 500 credits. AI credits renew yearly rather than monthly, which is easy to misread.
