Playground puts several image models behind one editor and adds the layout tools a thumbnail or a poster needs, so the generated image does not have to leave for another app. Free accounts generate at a slower queue and get no commercial licence, which is the line that decides whether it is a toy or a tool. Paid credits are counted per generation across the premium models.

Free generates up to 10 images every three hours with three monthly generations on the premium models, slower queueing at peak times and no commercial licence. Pro is $15 a month, or $12 billed annually at $144, and raises that to 75 images every three hours with 150 monthly premium credits, unlimited premium templates, upscaling and a commercial licence. The licence rather than the volume is the reason most people upgrade.

Creators making thumbnails, posters and social images who want generation and layout in one place. Anybody who needs the newest model the week it ships will be happier with a direct subscription to whoever made it.
