Disciple builds a branded community app and puts it in the Apple and Google stores under your name, rather than sending members to a website that happens to work on a phone. It takes nothing from what members pay, which matters at the price it charges. That price starts at several hundred a month, so it is a business decision rather than an experiment.
Plans are $399, $599 and $999 a month billed yearly, against $469, $699 and $1,169 monthly, with two months free for paying annually. Every tier states no Disciple transaction fees. Livestreaming runs from 500 minutes a month to unlimited, and the top plan adds multi-host livestreams, multi-tier pricing and API access.
Established communities with revenue to justify several hundred a month, who want members opening an app rather than a browser tab. Anybody still testing whether people will pay should not start here.
Zero transaction fees against a high fixed cost is the whole shape of this, and it favours communities already collecting real money. Below roughly $8,000 a month in member revenue, a platform taking a percentage costs less.
