chatwoot.com

Chatwoot collects website chat, email, Instagram, WhatsApp and the rest into one queue, and it is open source, so the version you self-host costs nothing and keeps the conversation data on your own server. That is the reason most people arrive. The hosted plans are priced per agent for anybody who would rather not run it. Setting up the self-hosted route is a real infrastructure job and the docs do not pretend otherwise.
Self-hosting is free and unlimited, which is the option most people come for, and the cost is entirely in running it. A hosted free tier gives 500 conversations a month and 30 days of history at no charge. Paid hosted plans are $19 per agent a month billed annually, then $39 and $99, each including monthly Captain AI credits at 300, 500 and 800 respectively, with more available at $20. Those figures are annual rates, so monthly billing costs more.
A team that wants conversations from every channel in one place and has a reason to care where the data lives, whether that is regulation, principle or cost. The self-hosted route is the draw. A creator who wants automated Instagram replies working this afternoon should look at a hosted tool instead, because standing this up properly is an infrastructure job.
Be honest about whether you have somebody who will keep a self-hosted deployment patched, because the free version is only free if that person already exists. If not, the hosted tier at $19 an agent is competitive on its own terms and the open source part is a nice fallback rather than the plan.
