Wistia puts video on your pages with a player you control and analytics counted per viewer rather than per view, which is the difference between hosting and uploading to YouTube. Heatmaps show the second people stop watching. It is priced for a company rather than for one person, and the step from free to $79 is where most creators make their decision.
Free is 25 GB of storage for one user. Business is $79 a month and holds most of the analytics and the lead capture. Business + Lead gen is $329 and adds the integrations that push those leads into a CRM. Enterprise is quoted. Annual billing takes 20 percent off. A trial is offered, though the page does not say for how long.
Businesses and creators selling from their own site, where a video is a step towards a purchase rather than the product itself. Anybody publishing to YouTube for reach is paying for analytics they will not act on.
The price is the whole argument. Wistia earns $79 a month when video is doing sales work and the heatmaps change what gets made next; when it is doing brand work, host it free somewhere and spend the difference on the edit.
