PledgeBox handles what happens after a campaign funds: surveying backers for addresses and choices, selling add-ons, and producing the shipping list. It costs nothing unless the survey earns something, because the fee is a percentage of add-on sales rather than a subscription. Campaigns with no upsell pay nothing at all.
Free to use, with a 3 percent platform fee on add-on sales generated during the survey and nothing at all on the original Kickstarter or Indiegogo funds. Payment collection through PledgeBox costs 3 percent of the revenue that passes through it, plus 20 cents a transaction. Add-ons sold through the pre-order store carry 5 percent instead. The page compares this against competitors charging a 1.5 to 2 percent campaign fee plus 3.5 percent on add-ons.
Kickstarter and Indiegogo creators fulfilling a funded campaign, particularly first-timers who have not budgeted for a pledge manager. A campaign with no add-ons to sell pays nothing, which makes the decision easy.
Free until there are add-ons to sell is the right shape for a first campaign, because the cost only arrives with the revenue. The 3 percent applies to add-on sales and not to what the campaign already raised, which is the distinction that makes it cheap.
