Melio is bill payment for a business too small to have an accounts payable department and too busy to keep writing bank transfers by hand. You schedule what goes out, pay by bank transfer at no cost or by card for a fee, and the recipient gets it however they want it. The free tier is not a trial and covers one user. Batch payments and approval rules are what the paid plans are actually selling.

The free plan is not a trial and carries no time limit, though it is restricted to one user. Above it, $25 a month adds batch actions, accounting sync and 20 free ACH payments a month, with additional users at $10 each. Paying $55 raises that to 50 free ACH payments and adds automations, custom controls and approvals. At $80 a month the ACH limit disappears entirely and seats become unlimited, which is the number to compare against if you are paying more than fifty bills a month. Every tier supports ACH, wire and cheque, so what the money is paid by does not change with the plan.

A creator paying a handful of regular people, an editor, a thumbnail designer, a virtual assistant, who has been doing it through manual bank transfers and a note in a phone. The free tier covers exactly that shape. A business with several people approving spend, or one paying dozens of contractors a month, is what the paid tiers are built around, and a solo operator will not need them.
