Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record, so sales tax and EU VAT stop being your problem. That alone justifies the fee for anyone selling internationally. Subscriptions, licence keys and affiliates are all included.
No plan and no monthly fee. Each sale costs 5 percent plus 50 cents, which covers both the payment processing and the tax handling that a plain payment processor leaves with you. That rate is higher than Stripe's on its own, and the difference is what registering for VAT in every jurisdiction you sell into would have cost in time and accountancy.
Anyone selling software or digital products to buyers in more than one country, where the tax paperwork is the real cost rather than the payment fee. Somebody selling only within their own country is paying a premium for a problem they do not have.
Worth the 5 percent the first time an EU VAT return would otherwise be yours to file. Against Gumroad it is half the rate and more setup, which is a good trade at any real volume.
