Discovery is thin, so bring your own audience.

Launching costs nothing. The platform fee is 5 percent and payment processing is 2.9 percent plus 30 cents, and the page states that 95 percent of supporters choose to cover both, which is where its claimed average cost to the creator of 2 percent comes from. That average is a statistic about other people's supporters rather than a rate, so the honest planning number is the 5 percent. Processing varies by processor and region, which the page footnotes rather than hides.

A creator with an audience already assembled who wants the funding page and not the marketplace. The fee model rewards exactly that person, because supporters who came for you are the ones most likely to cover the platform cut. Anybody relying on a crowdfunding site to introduce them to backers will find the discovery thin and should weigh a marketplace against the higher fee it charges.
