Canva covers thumbnails, channel art, carousels and short video with templates that look fine and are quick to change. Brand kits keep a team consistent. Anyone with real design skill will outgrow it, and that is fine.
The free plan covers a great deal, including most templates and the editor itself. Pro is $14.99 a month and adds the brand kit, the background remover and the larger asset library, billed monthly or yearly. Canva's help centre says the trial length is whatever the signup screen offers rather than a fixed number, and the pricing page refuses automated reading, so the plan detail here is thinner than for most listings.
Creators and small teams who need a thumbnail now and do not have a designer. Somebody who knows their way around Figma or Affinity will feel the ceiling within a week, and should treat Canva as the fast option rather than the capable one.
Nearly everyone should be on the free plan until a brand kit is the thing they keep wanting. Pro earns its money for teams and for anybody publishing daily; for one person making a thumbnail a week it does not.
