beehiiv handles sending, paid subscriptions, a referral program and a basic website, which covers most of what someone writing a weekly letter actually needs. It was built by people who ran Morning Brew, and it shows in the growth tooling. Automation is thinner than a dedicated email platform.
Free to 2,500 subscribers, including paid subscriptions. Scale is $49 a month and adds the referral program and boosts. Max is $99 and adds a team, priority support and more sends. Annual billing is cheaper. Payment processing is Stripe's usual rate on top.
Writers who want subscribers and revenue from the same tool, and who care more about growth than about branching sequences.
