Gumlet is free for 100GB of bandwidth, then $6 a month billed annually for 3,000GB, with DRM available at $99 on any plan. Wistia is free for 25GB of storage, then jumps straight to $79 a month for per-viewer heatmaps and lead capture built into the player. Pick Gumlet for cheap, DRM-capable delivery. Pick Wistia only when a video's job is generating a lead, since that price is hard to justify otherwise.

Video hosting priced by bandwidth, with DRM on top
Gumlet is video infrastructure for somebody who wants their own player on their own site rather than a channel on somebody else's. It transcodes, delivers, and will lock a video down with DRM if the content is worth stealing, which is the feature that usually forces a jump to enterprise pricing elsewhere. Image optimisation runs on the same account. The dashboard assumes you know what a bitrate ladder is, and does not apologise for it.
Our note
Price this on bandwidth rather than on the plan name, because a single popular video can move you two tiers in a month. If the content does not need protecting, the cheaper video hosts do the same delivery job without the DRM machinery you are partly paying for.

Video hosting for video your own site depends on
Wistia puts video on your pages with a player you control and analytics counted per viewer rather than per view, which is the difference between hosting and uploading to YouTube. Heatmaps show the second people stop watching. It is priced for a company rather than for one person, and the step from free to $79 is where most creators make their decision.
Pick Gumlet if the video is doing brand or product work and the bill needs to stay low. Free covers 100GB of bandwidth and 60 minutes of live streaming a month, paid plans start at $6 a month billed annually for 3,000GB, and DRM adds $99 a month on any plan, still cheaper than Wistia's entry paid tier alone.
Pick Wistia if a video's job is generating and qualifying a lead. Free gives 25GB of storage for one user, and Business at $79 a month adds heatmaps of who watched which second plus an email form inside the player itself. Business + Lead gen at $329 a month pushes those leads into a CRM. That price only earns itself back when somebody acts on the viewer data; for brand work, a cheaper host does the same job.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
The price is the whole argument. Wistia earns $79 a month when video is doing sales work and the heatmaps change what gets made next; when it is doing brand work, host it free somewhere and spend the difference on the edit.
