Running the business
Camtasia pairs a recorder with a desktop editor built over two decades: callouts, zooms and cursor effects, for $179.88 a year, about $15 a month, billed annually with no free plan. Screenity began as a free open source Chrome extension and has become a paid hosted editor instead, now $10 a month or $120 a year, the same rate either way, after a seven-day trial. Screenity is one person's product, made and hosted in Europe, against Camtasia's twenty years at TechSmith. Its scene-based editing, re-recording one section without redoing the whole take, is the feature that stands out against Camtasia's file-based editor.

Screen recording and editing in one suite
Camtasia has been the default answer for recorded training and software walkthroughs for about two decades, and the reason is the editor rather than the recorder: callouts, zooms and cursor effects are built in rather than assembled by hand. TechSmith sells it by the year and bundles Snagit with it. There is still a perpetual licence for people who would rather buy a version and keep it.
Our note
Ignore the $39 tier unless you genuinely only want Snagit, because the editor that makes Camtasia worth buying is on the plan above. Against DaVinci Resolve, which is free, this earns its price on the demo-specific tooling and nothing else.
Only on this side
A screen recorder and editor in the browser
Screenity began as a free open source Chrome extension for recording a tab and grew into a hosted editor around it, where a recording is built out of scenes you can re-record one at a time. Click zooms, captions and animated layouts are applied after the fact rather than performed live. It is made and hosted in Europe by one person, which is stated on the page and is the reason the feature list is narrow.
Take Camtasia for a wider, more established toolset: callouts, zooms and cursor effects assembled over two decades of TechSmith building specifically for training and demos. The plan a step above Starter, $179.88 a year, about $15 a month, is the one with the actual editor, more than Screenity's flat $10 a month. There is no free plan, only a fourteen-day money-back guarantee, and everything is billed annually with no monthly option.
Take Screenity for scene-based editing: re-record one section of a take instead of starting over, then apply auto-zoom, transcription and captions afterward. At $10 a month, or $120 a year for the same rate, it undercuts Camtasia's annual math, though there is no free plan at all now, a change from its history as a free extension. It is one person's product, made and hosted in Europe, worth weighing against Camtasia's larger company if this is going into a team's workflow.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
The interesting thing here is the scene model, which turns a fluffed take into a two-minute fix instead of a re-record. It is one person's product, so weigh that against Loom's support if it is going into a company workflow.
