Umami counts visits without cookies or personal data, which is what keeps a consent banner off the front of a site nobody came to for a consent banner. The whole thing is open source, so it can be self-hosted for nothing on hardware you already pay for, and the cloud plan exists for people who would rather not. Events are the billing unit above the free tier. The dashboard is deliberately one screen.

Hobby costs nothing and includes six months of data retention and community support, which for a personal site is the whole product. Pro is $20 a month with a million events included, up to 20 websites, up to 10 team members, two years of retention, API access and email support, offered with a 14 day trial. Events beyond the million are $0.00003 each, so a further million costs $30 and the bill grows in proportion rather than in steps. Business is $200 a month. Self-hosting the open source version costs nothing in licence and whatever your hosting costs in practice.

A creator with a site or a newsletter landing page who wants to know what people read and does not want a consent banner in front of it. Self-hosting suits anybody already running a server and comfortable with a database. Someone who needs funnels, cohorts or session recordings is asking for a different class of tool, and Umami is deliberately not it.
