Growing an audience
Running the business

Spreadshop opens a merchandise shop with no fee at either end: Spreadshirt prints and ships, and you keep whatever you set above the base price of each item. Because there is no subscription, a shop that sells nothing for six months costs nothing to leave open. The trade is that the storefront and the product range are theirs, so it is less yours than a shop you build.
There is no subscription and no listing fee. Each product has a base price covering production and printing, you choose what to sell it for, and the difference is yours. The page's own example is a $12 base price with $11 of profit on top. Because nothing is charged monthly, a shop that sells nothing costs nothing, which is a genuinely different risk profile from a storefront with a platform fee. Payment, printing, delivery and customer service all sit with Spreadshirt rather than with you.
A creator testing whether an audience will buy anything at all, where a monthly fee would decide the answer before the audience does. If merchandise is the business rather than an experiment, Printful with your own storefront gives control over branding that this does not.
The trade you are making is control: the storefront, the checkout and the product range are theirs, and your brand sits inside their frame. Accept that for a first merchandise run and revisit it if anything actually sells.
