Harvest counts hours against a project and then bills them, which removes the worst half hour of any freelance month: reading a timesheet back and typing it into an invoice. Expenses and receipts attach to the same project. The free plan covers one person and two projects, and for a solo creator that is often where it stops.

The free plan is one seat and two projects, with time tracking, invoicing and expenses all present rather than crippled. Teams is $9 a seat a month, or $108 a seat billed annually, and lifts the seat and project caps. Enterprise at $14 adds profitability reporting, timesheet approvals and SAML sign-on. Both paid tiers come with a 30-day trial that does not ask for a card. The line the page states quietly is that your base rate covers core features and that additional invoices, projects, clients and tasks are billed on what you use above it.

Freelancers and small studios who bill by the hour and are losing money in the gap between the timesheet and the invoice. One person with two projects can stay on the free plan indefinitely. Anybody billing a flat fee per project gets much less out of it, since the hours are then only for their own information.
