draft2digital.com

Draft2Digital takes one manuscript and lists it at Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, Amazon and a long tail of libraries, which is the alternative to keeping an account at each. Its formatting and print-on-demand are included rather than sold. The commission is on top of whatever the store already takes.
A one-time activation fee of $20 opens the account for its lifetime, and there is a $12 annual maintenance fee for accounts earning under $100 a year in sales, waived for the first year and not charged at all if nothing is in distribution. Draft2Digital states its commission "equates to approximately 10% of the retail price of every book sale", which sits on top of whatever cut the store itself takes.
An author who wants to be in every store without an account at each, and co-authors who need the money split without a spreadsheet. Somebody committed to KDP Select cannot use this, because that programme requires exclusivity.
Going wide through Draft2Digital and staying in KDP Select are mutually exclusive, and that is the actual decision. Select pays page reads from Kindle Unlimited; wide distribution pays from stores Amazon does not own. Do not start both.
