Text, shapes and logos can be laid over video rather than only over stills. The free tier resizes and edits without uploads of your own. Stock media allowances are what separate the paid plans, so somebody bringing their own footage gets less from the upgrade than somebody who is not.

Basic is free. It covers resizing, text, images, shapes and a custom colour palette, with a lifetime licence on what it produces. Pro at $9.99 a month, or $89 billed annually, is where the video half arrives: uploads of your own images, fonts and footage, storage, social sharing, export to JPG, PNG and PDF, overlays on video, animated text templates and MP4 downloads. A third tier sits at $89. A Pro trial is offered without a stated length.

Somebody producing thumbnails and short promo clips who wants both from one subscription and does not want a full design suite. It suits a channel with a consistent look to maintain. Anybody bringing their own footage and fonts will get less out of the upgrade than somebody relying on the stock library, which is what the paid tiers mostly buy.
