Running the business
Taplink's free plan is permanent and unlimited on links, and Business at $8 a month, or $96 a year, adds payment collection, a CRM, digital products and a custom domain with SSL, all on one tier. Zaap's free plan builds the page and collects addresses, and Pro at $9 a month turns on digital products and up to 25,000 marketing emails, though a custom domain waits for Ultra at $19. Taplink packs more into its cheaper paid tier. Zaap's case is the mailing list, since an address you own outlives a platform's algorithm.

A link in bio page that takes payments
Taplink builds a small mobile page out of blocks, and the paid tier turns it into something that sells: price lists, order forms, payment collection and a CRM behind them. That is further than most link pages go. The editor and the help text both read as translated, which is a fair warning about who the support team is.
Our note
Against Linktree the comparison is about what happens after the click. Taking a booking or a payment on the bio page is what the $4 buys, and a plain list of links needs none of it.

A bio link with a shop and a mailing list
Zaap is a link-in-bio page that also sells digital products and sends the email, so an audience arriving from a profile can be captured and sold to without a second subscription underneath. The free plan builds the page and collects addresses. Paying removes the Zaap branding and turns on the store, the blog and the sending.
Choose Taplink if payments, a CRM and a custom domain should all arrive on one affordable tier: Business is $8 a month, or $96 a year, and bundles what Zaap spreads across two tiers. The free plan is permanent and unlimited on links, themes and statistics, useful even before deciding whether the paid features are worth it.
Choose Zaap if building an email list from the bio link is the actual goal: Pro at $9 a month sends up to 25,000 emails to addresses collected right on the page, without a second subscription for the mailing tool. A custom domain is not included until Ultra at $19 a month, so anybody needing that immediately should compare it against Taplink's cheaper Business tier first.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
The reason to pay for this over Linktree is the mailing list, because an address you own outlives a platform's algorithm and a bio link does not. If nothing is being sold and no list is being built, the free tiers elsewhere are the same product.
