Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Captions, b-roll and hooks on a vertical clip
Submagic takes a clip and gives it back captioned in the style short-form audiences now expect, with the emphasised words coloured and the timing tight against the audio. Cutting a long recording into clips is a paid add-on rather than the base product, which is the thing to check before comparing it with Opus Clip. Three watermarked videos a month are free, which is enough to see whether the caption style suits your face.
Our note
The captions are the reason to buy it, and they are better than the default in most editors. Opus Clip is the comparison for finding the clip; Submagic is the comparison for making the clip worth watching once found.
Only on this side
Cuts the silences and scores what is left
Wisecut removes silences and filler from a long recording, adds subtitles and lays background music under the result, which is most of a rough edit done before anybody opens a timeline. Autopilot runs the whole sequence unattended. Plans are metered in credits split between editor time and automated time, so the two ways of using it are priced apart. A talking-head recording is what this is built for and a multi-camera shoot is not.
Ratings are the average of reviews readers left. The facts are stated by each tool’s own listing and are not verified by CloutStack. How we make money.

Our note
Count Autopilot hours rather than credits when picking a plan, since two and a half hours is roughly one long recording a week and that is the limit most people meet. Run one real recording through the trial before committing, because how well the silence detection handles your speaking style is the only thing that decides whether this saves time.
