A screen recorder and editor in the browser
Screenity began as a free open source Chrome extension for recording a tab and grew into a hosted editor around it, where a recording is built out of scenes you can re-record one at a time. Click zooms, captions and animated layouts are applied after the fact rather than performed live. It is made and hosted in Europe by one person, which is stated on the page and is the reason the feature list is narrow.
Our note
The interesting thing here is the scene model, which turns a fluffed take into a two-minute fix instead of a re-record. It is one person's product, so weigh that against Loom's support if it is going into a company workflow.
Step-by-step guides captured as you click
Scribe records a process while somebody does it once and turns it into a written guide with screenshots, numbered and ready to hand over. That is the documentation nobody writes, produced as a side effect of the work. Redaction and branding are paid features, and the free plan is capped at the last 25 guides you edited.
Our note
The five-seat minimum on the cheaper per-seat plan is the thing to notice. One person pays $25, a team of five pays $65, and a team of two pays $50 for the personal plan twice.
