Making the work
Growing an audience
Running the business
Plausible answers page views and referrers on one flat-fee dashboard, no cookies, no consent banner, from $9 a month for 10,000 monthly pageviews. PostHog bundles that plus session replay, feature flags and surveys, billed by usage rather than a flat plan: the first million events a month are free, then from $0.00005 each, falling as volume rises. Plausible is simple and predictable. PostHog is more powerful and, by its own admission, more setup than you need if page views are all you are after.

Privacy-first analytics without cookies
Plausible answers what a Google Analytics dashboard takes four clicks to answer, on one page, without cookies or a consent banner. The script is a fraction of the size, which shows up in a page speed score. There are no user-level reports at all, so anybody who needs to follow one visitor around is in the wrong tool.
Our note
Not running a consent banner is a saving the price does not show. No cookies means no banner and no consent records to keep, and on a small site that is worth more than the gap between $9 a month and free analytics.
Product analytics billed by the event
PostHog bundles product analytics, session replay, feature flags and surveys and bills each of them by usage rather than by seat, so a team of ten costs the same as a team of one at the same volume. The first million events each month cost nothing, and that allowance survives an upgrade. Billing limits can be set per product, which is the guard against a viral week arriving as an invoice. The event rates are quoted to five decimal places, so working out a monthly figure takes arithmetic rather than reading.
Choose Plausible if the questions are which pages get read and where visitors came from, and you want a bill you can predict: $9 a month covers 10,000 pageviews on one site, rising to $19 for Business with funnels and ecommerce attribution. There are no user-level reports at all, so following one visitor around, or building a product funnel PostHog-style, is not what this does. Skipping cookies also skips the consent banner, a saving the price does not show.
Choose PostHog if you need product analytics, session replay and feature flags without buying three separate subscriptions, and your team's size would make a per-seat tool expensive: the first million events a month are free on every plan, including after upgrading. Rates are quoted to five decimal places, so a monthly figure takes arithmetic rather than a glance, and billing limits per product are worth setting on day one rather than after a viral week arrives as an invoice. Its own listing is honest that Plausible answers page views and referrers for a flat fee and far less setup.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
Set the billing limits on day one rather than after the first spike, because usage pricing is only comfortable when it has a ceiling you chose. If all you need is page views and referrers, Plausible or Fathom will answer that for a flat fee and far less setup.
