Making the work
Growing an audience
Running the business
Mailchimp is a general email platform with a free plan and Standard from $20 a month at 500 contacts, and its case is the integration list: whatever store or booking tool you already run, a connector already exists. Mailmodo sends interactive email, where a form or a poll renders and submits inside the message itself, at $27 a month billed annually with no stated free plan. Mailchimp wins on reach and connections. Mailmodo wins on response rate, but only where a reader's mail client actually renders the interactive part.

Email marketing with the longest integration list
Mailchimp is the default nobody gets fired for picking, and the reason is that whatever else you run already connects to it. The editor and the reporting are fine rather than good. Its pricing counts contacts rather than sends, so a large list you mail once a month costs the same as one you mail daily, which is the wrong shape for most creators.
Our note
Pick Mailchimp when integrations decide it, and only then. For a newsletter as the main product, beehiiv and Kit both cost less and were designed for the job rather than adapted to it.
Only on this side
Emails a reader can fill in without leaving
Mailmodo sends interactive email: a form, a poll or a booking widget renders inside the message and submits from there, so a survey does not need a landing page and a click. Where a mail client refuses that, it falls back to an ordinary email with a link. Campaigns, journeys and the interactive blocks sit in one builder. The interactive part is the whole reason to pay, so it is worth checking whether the audience reads mail somewhere that supports it before committing.
Pick Mailchimp if your email needs to talk to a shop, a booking tool or a CRM chosen long before the newsletter existed. A free plan covers a small list, and Standard starts at $20 a month at 500 contacts after a 14 day trial that needs no card.
Pick Mailmodo if readers keep dropping off at the click and a survey or booking completed inside the email itself is worth a premium. Lite is $27 a month billed annually with no clearly stated free plan, so check where your audience actually reads mail before paying, since a client that refuses interactivity just falls back to an ordinary email with a link.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
Check where your readers actually open mail before buying, because the interactive rendering is the product and the fallback is a normal email with a link. If most of your list is on a client that supports it, the response-rate gain is real and easily worth $27.
