Running the business
Maestra transcribes, subtitles and dubs into another language with a synthetic voice, working across 125 languages, from $23 a month billed annually for 180 minutes. Otter joins a Zoom, Meet or Teams call on its own, separates speakers and lets you search everything you have ever recorded, free for 300 minutes a month and then $16.99 a month, or $8.33 billed annually, for 1,200. Otter's free tier alone covers more minutes than Maestra's cheapest paid plan. Maestra earns its higher price with the one thing Otter cannot do at all: an actual dubbed voice track.

Transcription, subtitles and dubbing
Maestra transcribes, then subtitles, then dubs into another language with a synthetic voice, and keeps all three views of the same file in one editor. Working across 125 languages is what it sells, and the dubbing is the part that has no cheap equivalent. Minutes are the unit of billing, so a long back catalogue is a budgeting exercise.

Searchable transcripts of calls and recordings
Otter sits in a meeting or takes a file and returns a transcript with the speakers separated, which is where show notes, a follow-up post or a list of clips can start. Search across everything you have ever recorded is the part people keep paying for. Three hundred free minutes a month is five hours, so a weekly interview show fits and a daily one does not.
Our note
Otter for talking, Descript for publishing. If the transcript is the product this is faster and cheaper, and if the transcript is how you edit the audio, pay for Descript instead and skip this one.
Pick Maestra when a language other than the original has to come out as spoken audio, not just text: dubbing with a synthetic voice is the feature nothing else here offers. Lite is $23 a month billed annually for 180 minutes, and Maestra's own pricing notes admit a listener who only wants an English transcript should go elsewhere.
Pick Otter for that transcript. The free Basic plan alone gives 300 minutes a month, more than Maestra's entire paid entry tier, and it dials into the meeting itself so nobody has to remember to hit record. Pro is $16.99 a month, or $8.33 billed annually, for 1,200 minutes, cheaper per minute than Maestra by a wide margin, though there is no dubbing feature to reach for later.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
