Running the business
Looka generates a logo from a business name and a few style choices, then sells the files: $20 once for a basic PNG, or $65 once for the vector package with unlimited later changes. Marq locks an already-finished logo into templates so a franchise, chapter or sales team cannot move it, at $10 a month per user billed yearly. These are sequential rather than rival. Looka makes the mark. Marq then keeps other people from breaking it once several people are producing material with it.

A logo and brand kit from a few answers
Looka generates logo options from a business name and a handful of style choices, then sells you the files. Buying the brand kit rather than the logo alone gets business cards, social templates, letterheads and invoices built from the same mark. The one-time packages are the cheaper road if the logo is genuinely all you need. Full ownership is stated either way.
Our note
Take the $65 one-time package rather than the subscription unless you actually want the templates, because vector files are the part you will still need in two years. The generated marks are competent and rarely surprising, which is the honest trade at this price.
Brand templates with the logo locked down
Marq exists for the problem where somebody outside the design team has to make a flyer and must not be able to move the logo. Templates lock whichever parts carry the brand and leave the rest editable, so a franchise or a chapter can localise a poster without redrawing it. The product came out of Lucidpress and kept that job when it changed name.
Our note
Pick Looka if you do not have a logo yet and need one today without hiring a designer. Sixty five dollars once buys the vector package, with unlimited changes afterward and full ownership stated regardless of whether you keep the subscription. A brand that is the whole product should treat this as a placeholder and budget for a freelancer later.
Pick Marq once a logo already exists and more than one person outside the design team needs to produce flyers or posters without moving it. Ten dollars a month per user, billed yearly, locks the brand-carrying regions of a template while leaving the rest editable. A solo creator has nobody to lock templates against and should skip this entirely.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
This is bought for the lock rather than for the drawing, and if nobody is going to misuse your logo you do not need it. The former name, Lucidpress, is still what half the internet's tutorials call it.
