Making the work
Growing an audience
Running the business
Jitter animates in two dimensions: titles, logos and social posts, from $15 a month billed annually. Spline works in 3D instead, building interactive scenes that can sit on a web page and respond to a cursor, or export flat as video when needed, from $15 a month or $12 billed yearly. The axis is dimensionality: Jitter is the faster route to a 2D motion graphic, and Spline is the faster route to something three-dimensional and interactive, with video export as a secondary option rather than the point.

Motion design in the browser, exported to Lottie
Jitter animates the things a creator actually needs animated, which is titles, logos and social posts, without asking anybody to learn After Effects. It imports from Figma and exports video, GIF and Lottie on every plan including the free one. The free plan watermarks and caps you at three workspace files.
3D scenes that run in a browser
Spline is a 3D editor in the browser whose output is an interactive scene rather than a rendered file, so the thing you made can sit on a web page and respond to a cursor. Video export and code export are there for when it needs to be flat or embedded properly. The learning curve is much shorter than the desktop tools it competes with.
Our note
Spline is the fastest route from nothing to a 3D thing on a web page, and the free plan is enough to find out whether you enjoy it. Blender is free and does everything, and will take you a month to reach the point Spline reaches in an afternoon.
Choose Jitter if the deliverable is a 2D motion graphic: a title, a logo sting, a social post, without learning After Effects. It imports layered files straight from Figma, and the free plan already exports video, GIF and Lottie, capped at three workspace files and a watermark until Pro removes both.
Choose Spline if the work is three-dimensional or needs to be interactive on a web page, since the output is a scene a cursor can move rather than a rendered frame. The free plan is enough to find out whether you enjoy working in it, and Blender does the same job for nothing but takes a month to reach what Spline reaches in an afternoon.
