Filemail just sends a large file and gets out of the way: free up to 5GB with no signup, then $6 a month for more, with no review or collaboration layer at all. Frame.io keeps the video and the notes on it together, comments pinned to a timecode and versions stacked so v4 does not lose what a client liked about v3, free for 2GB then $15 a month, with storage as the real cost driver. Filemail's own guidance sends anybody needing comments, versions and approvals straight to a review tool. Frame.io is that tool.

Send a file of any size, from six dollars
Filemail moves large files without asking either end to install anything, which is the entire job when the person receiving your footage is a client rather than a colleague. Transfers can be tracked, password protected and set to expire, and the free tier handles up to five gigabytes without an account. The paid plans are about how long files live and how large they get. There is no collaboration layer here, and that is deliberate.
Our note
Six dollars is the right price for this problem and most of the alternatives charge more for the same thing wrapped in collaboration features. Check the retention period against your client's habits, because the cheapest plan expiring a link before somebody opens it costs you a re-send and a conversation.
Where a client gives notes on the timecode
Frame.io keeps the video and the notes on it together, so a comment lands at 01:12 instead of in an email saying somewhere around the middle. Versions stack, which means a client can see v4 without losing the thing they liked in v3. Two gigabytes free is one project, and storage is what you end up paying for.
Pick Filemail when the job is purely getting a large file to a client who will not install anything, with tracking, password protection and an expiry date on the link. Personal is $6 a month, and its own guidance says that is the right price for this specific problem, cheaper than alternatives wrapped in collaboration features nobody asked for. There is no review layer here at all; that is deliberate.
Pick Frame.io the moment a client needs to leave notes on the cut rather than just receive it. Free covers 2GB, one short project, and Pro is $15 a month, with storage rather than features being what separates the tiers. The notes pay for themselves the first time a client says 01:12 instead of somewhere around the middle; archive finished work somewhere cheaper rather than buying the next storage tier just to keep it.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
The notes pay for themselves the first time a client says the middle bit rather than 01:12. Storage is the real cost, so archive finished work somewhere cheaper instead of buying the next tier.
