Running the business
Encharge is one thing done deeply: email built around real product events, branching and waiting on a visual flow canvas, at $79 a month billed yearly. Ontraport is nearly the same price for a completely different scope: $83 a month billed annually for a CRM, email, automation, landing pages, forms and payments all replacing four separate tools at once. The two land within four dollars of each other and could not be more different in what that money buys.

Behaviour-driven email built on a flow editor
Encharge builds email around what somebody did in the product rather than which list they landed on, and the flow editor is where that happens: a visual canvas with branching, waits and conditions instead of a linear sequence. It reads events from the product and from the CRM, which is what makes the branching worth having. Email verification is included rather than billed. This is aimed at a software product with a funnel, so a writer with a subscriber list is paying for machinery they will never open.
Our note
Only buy this if you have product events worth branching on, because that is the entire difference between it and a $9 newsletter tool. If your segmentation is really just tags and signup source, ActiveCampaign or MailerLite will do the same job for a fraction of the price.
CRM, email and checkout in one subscription
Ontraport replaces the usual stack of a CRM, an email tool, a page builder and a payment processor with one system, which is worth it precisely when the handoffs between those are where things break. Automations can move a contact, send a message, charge a card and open a task in the same sequence. Pricing is per plan rather than per contact at the entry tier. It is a large system to learn, and anybody who only needs to send a newsletter will spend weeks configuring something they did not need.
Pick Encharge if email is the only piece that needs replacing, and what makes it worth the price is branching on real product usage rather than which list somebody joined. Growth is $79 a month billed yearly, and its own guidance is clear that a business with no product events to read gets nothing from this over a cheap newsletter tool. It does not replace a CRM or a checkout; it reads from them.
Pick Ontraport to replace a CRM, an email tool, a page builder and a payment processor with one system, worth it specifically when the handoffs between those separate tools are where leads get lost. Entry is $83 a month billed annually, close to Encharge's price but buying an entire stack rather than one automation layer, with extra users at $49 a month each. Anybody who only wants to send a weekly newsletter will spend a fortnight configuring a CRM they never needed.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
Buy this to replace four tools rather than to add a fifth, because the price only makes sense once the CRM, the email tool, the page builder and the checkout have all been cancelled. Kartra and HighLevel are the direct comparisons, and the deciding question is usually which one your existing data moves into most cleanly.
