Running the business
Ecwid and Sellfy both have a $29 a month plan, but the ceiling is different. Ecwid's $29 Venture tier caps out at a hundred products, plus digital goods and Instagram and Facebook selling. Sellfy's $29 Starter tier caps out at $10,000 of sales a year instead, with no stated product limit and no transaction fee taken from any sale. Sellfy also prints and ships physical merchandise like shirts and mugs alongside digital downloads, which Ecwid does not do itself. Pick Sellfy for downloads plus merch under one no-fee roof. Pick Ecwid for a shop that bolts onto a site you already run.

A store that bolts onto a site you already have
Ecwid adds a shop to a site that already exists rather than asking anybody to rebuild on a new platform, which is what makes it the answer when the site is fine and only the selling is missing. It will also stand on its own with an included site builder and a free subdomain. Plans are separated by product count first: ten on the cheapest, a hundred on the next. Selling through Instagram and Facebook, the mobile management app and automated tax all start one tier above the entry plan.
Our note
Count your products before choosing, because the jump from ten to a hundred is the whole difference between the first two tiers and it is not a soft limit. If the shop is going to be the main event rather than an addition, pay for Shopify or BigCommerce now instead of migrating in a year.

A storefront for downloads and merch
Sellfy sells digital files, subscriptions and print-on-demand merchandise from one storefront, prints and ships the merchandise itself, and takes no cut of a sale. The plans are banded by annual sales instead, which is the trade: a flat fee that steps up as you grow rather than a percentage of everything you ever sell.
Ecwid is the pick for somebody whose website already exists and just needs a shop added to it, or who wants Instagram and Facebook selling built in. Venture is $29 a month for a hundred products and digital goods, with no long-term commitment.
Sellfy is the pick for a creator selling a mix of digital files, subscriptions and print-on-demand merchandise who wants one shop rather than a store plus a separate print service. Starter is also $29 a month, banded by up to $10,000 of annual sales rather than by product count, and no plan ever takes a cut of a sale.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
Against Gumroad the choice is a flat fee against a percentage of every sale, so Sellfy wins once the shop is turning over a few hundred a month and loses under that. If merchandise is part of the plan, the print-on-demand side settles it.
