Disciple's $399 a month, billed yearly, includes a branded app in both stores and takes zero percent of member payments. Honeycommb's base subscription looks far cheaper, from $24.99 a month for the first hundred registered members, but that price does not include an app: a dedicated branded app is a separate $299 a month plus a $1,499 launch fee, discounted to $499 if paid yearly, on top of a 5 percent transaction fee on the base plan itself. Add the app to Honeycommb and the totals land close to, or above, Disciple's price with a cut taken as well.

Your community as an app in the app stores
Disciple builds a branded community app and puts it in the Apple and Google stores under your name, rather than sending members to a website that happens to work on a phone. It takes nothing from what members pay, which matters at the price it charges. That price starts at several hundred a month, so it is a business decision rather than an experiment.
Our note
Zero transaction fees against a high fixed cost is the whole shape of this, and it favours communities already collecting real money. Below roughly $8,000 a month in member revenue, a platform taking a percentage costs less.
A branded social network for one community
Honeycommb builds a private social network under your name rather than a forum, with a feed, profiles and posts that behave the way members already expect. Pricing is by how many people have registered, not by which features you want, so the whole product is on the cheapest tier. Branded iOS and Android apps are a separate add-on with its own launch fee, and that is the line item most budgets trip over.
Buy Disciple if a branded app is the point, and you want it included in the number you are already budgeting for, with no percentage taken from what members pay. It starts at $399 a month billed yearly and there is no separate app fee to add later.
Buy Honeycommb if a branded feed and profiles under your own name are enough without a native app, since the base plan starts at $24.99 a month for the first hundred members and every band gets every feature. Read the add-on column before comparing headline prices: the app alone is $299 a month plus a launch fee, and the base plan still takes 5 percent of each transaction, which Disciple does not.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
Read the add-on column before the plan column, because the apps cost more than ten times the entry subscription and they are the reason most people arrive here. Without them this is Circle at several times the price.
