Running the business
Bonsai bundles proposals, contracts, time tracking and invoicing under one client record, from $15 a month billed monthly or $9 a month billed annually. Moxie covers the same ground and adds a scheduler and basic bookkeeping, from $12 a month with no annual commitment required. Per Moxie's own comparison to Bonsai, the split is that Moxie costs less to start and Bonsai carries the deeper contract library.

Contracts, proposals and invoices in one place
Bonsai carries the paperwork around freelance and agency work: a proposal, the contract it turns into, the time tracked against it and the invoice at the end, all holding the same client record. It is aimed at service businesses rather than at audiences, which makes it the tool for the half of a creator's income that arrives as brand work. There is no free plan, only a week to decide.
Our note
Worth it the first time a brand disputes what was agreed. Below roughly a deal a month, a contract template and the invoicing in a tool you already pay for cover the same ground for nothing.

The freelance business in one place
Moxie holds the client list, the proposal, the contract, the time log and the invoice in one account, so a freelancer stops paying four tools that each know a quarter of the job. A scheduler and a light set of books are in there as well. Its own pricing page compares it to Bonsai, Dubsado and HoneyBook, which is a fair statement of who it is up against.
Choose Bonsai when the contract library is what matters most. Per Moxie's own positioning, Bonsai's templates run deeper, and it costs $15 a month billed monthly or $9 a month if you commit to a year.
Choose Moxie when the client portal matters more than template depth, or for a soloist who does not want five separate subscriptions. Starter is $12 a month with no annual lock-in, already undercutting Bonsai's own monthly price, and it already includes scheduling and basic accounting. Pro at $25 a month adds the white-labelled portal, a custom domain and workflow automation, and Teams at $40 covers up to five people. Moxie is also alone in this pair in offering location- and need-based scholarships.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
Against Bonsai the split is that Moxie costs less at the entry tier and Bonsai has the deeper contract library. Pick Moxie if the client portal matters and Bonsai if the paperwork does.
