Running the business
Animoto turns your own photos and clips into a video inside a template, with a licensed soundtrack cut to the beat, from $9 a month and a watermarked free plan. Renderforest fills templates for intros, explainers, logo animations and a bundled website, and meters output in credits starting at $8 a month. Animoto is built around one job: photo and clip video, done fast. Renderforest spreads across branding and a site too, so the real decision is between one flat video subscription and a wider kit billed by what you generate.

Templates that turn photos into video
Animoto is the drag-and-drop end of video making: pick a template, drop in photos or clips, and it cuts them to a licensed track. Nobody is editing a documentary in it. It exists for the promo, the recap and the listing tour that would otherwise never get made, and the free plan stamps a watermark on whatever comes out.
Our note
Canva does much of this and a great deal more for similar money when video is one part of a wider design job. Animoto is the better answer when the output is video and only video, and speed is the whole point.
Video templates and a logo maker
Renderforest is a template factory: intros, explainers, logo animations and slideshows, each filled in with your own footage and text. Nothing made in it will look custom, and for a channel that needs a title sequence by Thursday that is the point. Credits meter what you can generate, so the plan you need depends on output rather than on features.
Our note
Against Animaker the split is credits against downloads. Renderforest meters what you generate and Animaker caps what you export, so which one comes out cheaper depends on whether you iterate a lot or publish a lot.
Pick Animoto when the job is turning your own photos and clips into a clean promo or recap and nothing else. Professional at $19 a month billed annually gets you the Getty library, brand kit, 4K and voiceover, and even the free plan includes screen and webcam recording with fifty licensed tracks.
Pick Renderforest when a logo, an explainer and a website all need to exist this week and one subscription should cover them. Lite starts at $8 a month billed annually for 4,800 credits and 720p exports, and Pro adds a custom-domain website for $12 in the first year. Anybody whose brand needs to look unlike a template should treat either one as a starting point, not a finish line.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
