Making the work
Growing an audience
Running the business
Tally gives away unlimited forms and unlimited submissions for free, subject to fair use, and its $24-a-month Pro tier only buys branding removal, custom domains and integrations rather than more responses. Typeform meters everything by response count instead, a free plan with real limits, then Basic at $39 a month, or $28 billed yearly, for just 100 responses. Tally is nearly free for volume. Typeform costs more because showing one question at a time genuinely raises completion rates, which is what audience surveys and sponsor briefs are paying for.

Unlimited forms and answers on the free plan
Tally gives away the thing every other form builder meters. Forms and submissions are unlimited without paying, and the paid tier buys branding removal, custom domains and the integrations rather than permission to collect more answers. It is written like a document, so building a form is typing rather than dragging blocks around. For a creator running a waitlist, an application or a feedback form on an irregular schedule, the free plan is usually the whole answer.
Our note
Start here before paying anyone per response. The free plan is the product, and the upgrade is about your domain and your branding rather than about collecting more answers.
One question at a time, and people finish it
Typeform shows a form one question at a time, and the completion rate is the reason it costs more than a grid of input boxes. For a creator it is the audience survey, the coaching intake and the sponsor brief, all of which get better answers when the form does not look like paperwork. Logic jumps let a later question depend on an earlier answer without anybody seeing the branches. Plans are metered by responses per month, and that allowance is what runs out rather than the feature list.
Choose Tally if the form is a waitlist, an application or feedback collected on an irregular schedule, where paying per response would mean paying for nothing most months: unlimited forms and submissions are free, with logic, calculations and Stripe payments included. Pro at $24 a month is about the domain and the branding, not about collecting more answers, which is the opposite of how most competitors price.
Choose Typeform if the quality of the answers matters more than the cost per response: showing one question at a time is the whole product, and it is why completion rates beat a grid of input boxes for an audience survey or a sponsor brief. Basic is $39 a month, or $28 billed yearly, for 100 responses, and the response allowance, not the feature list, is what forces the upgrade as an audience grows.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
