Running the business
Mailjet is a marketing send tool with a drag-drop editor and collaboration, free for 6,000 emails a month with unlimited contacts, then $9 a month for 8,000. Resend is a developer-first email API with broadcasts added on, free for 3,000 emails a month, then $20 a month on Pro. Mailjet's free tier is double Resend's, and it is built for a marketer running campaigns visually. Resend is built for a developer who wants transactional email and a newsletter sharing one sending domain and one reputation.

Send-based email pricing with a real free tier
Mailjet meters emails sent rather than contacts held, and its free tier carries six thousand a month, which is enough to run a small list indefinitely. Marketing campaigns and transactional sending share one account and one sending reputation. Contacts are uncapped on every plan including the free one, so a large dormant list costs nothing. Editing is collaborative, which is unusual here and is the reason teams pick it over a cheaper single-seat tool.
Our note
Compare on emails a month rather than subscribers, because that is the axis this prices on and it is the reverse of most of the category. The free tier is genuinely permanent, which makes it a better first choice than a trial-only tool if you are not yet sure the newsletter will stick.
Email for developers, with broadcasts attached
Resend sends transactional email through an API that a developer can wire up in an afternoon, and it has grown a broadcast side so a product's receipts and its newsletter come from the same domain and the same reputation. The free tier covers 3,000 emails a month, which is enough for a small product's transactional traffic. Automation runs are metered separately with their own free allowance. Anybody wanting a drag-and-drop campaign builder and a marketer's dashboard is in the wrong place.
Pick Mailjet if you are a marketer without a codebase, and want a bigger free allowance with a drag-drop editor more than one person can work on at once. Free covers 6,000 emails a month with unlimited contacts, and the entry tier is $9 a month for 8,000.
Pick Resend if the same team owns the code and the newsletter, and you want receipts and campaigns sharing one sending reputation through an API. Free covers 3,000 emails a month, half of Mailjet's allowance, but the fit is better for a developer shipping a product. A writer with a list and no codebase should stay with Mailjet or a similar no-code tool.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
Choose this when the same team owns the code and the newsletter, because keeping both on one sending domain is worth more than any feature either side offers. If nobody on the project writes code, this is the wrong tool no matter how good the pricing looks.
