Mailcoach is a marketing send tool billed per email, at $9.99 a month for 2,000 emails, with no free plan and a 14 day trial. Resend is a developer-first email API with broadcasts added on, free for 3,000 emails a month and $20 a month on Pro for more. Mailcoach is built for someone running a mailing list through a browser interface. Resend is built for a developer wiring email into a product's code, and its free tier is real where Mailcoach has none at all.

Email billed per send, not per contact
Mailcoach charges for emails sent rather than contacts stored, which inverts the pricing of most of this category and matters to anybody holding a large list they mail occasionally. Contacts, lists and automations are uncapped at every level. Bringing your own sending provider halves the per-email rate. A self-hosted licence exists for people who would rather run it themselves, and the hosted version is the same software with the operations included.
Our note
Do the arithmetic on your own sending pattern rather than the headline, because this wins decisively on a large occasional list and loses on a small daily one. The bring-your-own-provider rate halves the marginal cost and is the reason to choose this over MailerLite if you already run your own sending infrastructure.
Email for developers, with broadcasts attached
Resend sends transactional email through an API that a developer can wire up in an afternoon, and it has grown a broadcast side so a product's receipts and its newsletter come from the same domain and the same reputation. The free tier covers 3,000 emails a month, which is enough for a small product's transactional traffic. Automation runs are metered separately with their own free allowance. Anybody wanting a drag-and-drop campaign builder and a marketer's dashboard is in the wrong place.
Pick Mailcoach if you are managing a newsletter through an interface rather than code, especially a large list mailed occasionally, since sends rather than contacts decide the bill. There is no free plan, only a 14 day trial, before the $9.99 a month base begins.
Pick Resend if the same team owns the codebase and the newsletter, and you want receipts and broadcasts sharing one sending domain and reputation. The free tier covers 3,000 emails a month outright, cheaper to start than Mailcoach in absolute terms, though there is no drag-and-drop campaign builder here. If nobody on the project writes code, this is the wrong tool regardless of price.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
Choose this when the same team owns the code and the newsletter, because keeping both on one sending domain is worth more than any feature either side offers. If nobody on the project writes code, this is the wrong tool no matter how good the pricing looks.
