Running the business
Kittl is built for merch and book-cover design, vector effects and templates, free for personal use only and $14 a month billed yearly once commercial rights matter. Snappa is built for everyday social graphics and thumbnails at the exact size each platform needs, free for three downloads a month, then $10 a month billed yearly for unlimited ones. The axis is output type: Kittl produces print-ready merch and covers, and Snappa produces sized-right thumbnails, stories and headers, faster and cheaper.

Design templates for merch and covers
Kittl is built for the kind of design that ends up on a t-shirt or a book cover: display type, textures, badge layouts and vector effects that would take an hour in Illustrator. The template library does most of the work and the editor stays out of the way. The free plan carries no commercial rights, which matters if the design is going on something you sell.
Our note
The free plan carries no commercial rights, which matters more here than usual because the output is merch and book covers meant to be sold. Anything headed for a storefront starts at $14 a month rather than at nothing.

Graphics sized right for each platform
Snappa opens at the dimensions a thumbnail, a story or a header actually needs, which removes the step where somebody guesses and then crops. The stock photos and graphics inside it are royalty-free for commercial work. Three downloads a month on the free plan is the limit, and it is a hard one rather than a watermark.
Choose Kittl if the output is going on a t-shirt, a mug or a book cover, since vector effects and badge or poster layouts do work a thumbnail tool is not built for. The free plan carries no commercial rights at all, so selling anything needs the $14 a month Pro tier.
Choose Snappa if the daily job is thumbnails, stories and headers at the right dimensions, since the free plan already includes commercial rights with no attribution required, just a hard cap of three downloads a month. Pro removes that cap for $10 a month billed yearly, cheaper than Kittl's entry price.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
