Mileage and expenses tracked for freelancers
Everlance runs in the background on a phone and logs drives automatically, which is the part of a mileage deduction nobody does by hand for long. Swiping classifies a trip as work or personal, and the year's log exports in the shape a tax return wants. The free plan caps automatic detection at 30 trips a month, and a working week eats that.
Our note
The free tier's 30 trips is the number to check yourself against. Two client visits a week uses it up, and a partially tracked year is worth less at tax time than a fully tracked one.
Invoicing built for freelancers, not accountants
FreshBooks is double-entry accounting wearing a friendly invoice app, which is the right shape for somebody who bills a handful of clients and dreads January. Time tracking and expenses feed the invoice directly. Client limits on the cheap plan are the thing that pushes people up a tier.
Our note
Wave does invoicing and bookkeeping free and is enough for most creators. Pay for FreshBooks when the client count, the retainers or the proposals are the reason, not because it looks more serious.
