Clipchamp is free with a Microsoft account, and its premium features, 4K export, premium stock and a brand kit, come bundled into a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription rather than sold on their own. FlexClip is template-first for a promo or a social post, free at 720p with caps on projects and length, then $19.99 a month or $11.99 billed annually for 1080p and a fuller stock library. If you already pay for Microsoft 365, Clipchamp's premium tier costs nothing extra; FlexClip always charges separately.

Microsoft's browser video editor
Clipchamp is Microsoft's video editor, free to anybody with a personal Microsoft account and folded into Microsoft 365 for the premium half. Recording the screen, camera and voice is on the free level, along with the AI editing and audio tools. What you pay for is 4K export, the stock library and a brand kit. No download is involved.
Our note
Check your Microsoft 365 subscription before paying for a video editor, because the premium tier may already be included in it. As a free editor on its own it sits comfortably beside CapCut and needs no install.

Template-led video editing in a browser
FlexClip is a template-first video editor for somebody making a promo or a social post rather than a film. The free plan exports at 720p and caps projects, stock use and length. Paying takes it to 1080p and opens the stock library properly. Credits meter the AI features on top of that.
Buy into Clipchamp if you or your household already has a Microsoft 365 subscription, since the premium editing features arrive at no extra cost. As a free editor on its own it needs no download and covers screen, camera and voice recording at the free level already.
Buy FlexClip if the job is turning a template into a finished promo quickly and you have no Microsoft 365 subscription to lean on. The free plan caps out at 720p and twelve projects, and $11.99 a month billed annually is what removes that ceiling. Anybody shooting their own footage and editing it properly will find the template-first approach confining either way.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
Judge this on whether its templates suit what you make, because that is the entire product. Canva covers the same ground with a wider library if you also need static graphics.
