Rytr is built to be the cheapest paid option in this category, $7.50 a month for unlimited generation of captions, descriptions and subject lines that need editing before they go out. Claude costs more, $20 a month for Pro, and is built for longer, more finished work: a script, a researched document, twenty polished variations of an email, with a 200k-token context window on every plan. Rytr's own listing is candid that its output needs editing rather than pretending otherwise; Claude's is aimed at work that holds together with less of that pass.

A writing and reasoning assistant with a long memory
Claude is an assistant built by Anthropic for work that runs long: a full script rather than a paragraph, a spreadsheet of sponsor replies rather than one email. The free plan covers web search, file creation and memory across conversations. Pro adds more usage, unlimited projects, research and the ability to connect Slack and Google Workspace. The context window is 200k tokens on every plan, which in practice means a long transcript or a stack of documents goes in whole rather than in pieces.
Our note
The reason to choose this over the other assistants is usually the context window: work that involves a long document or a full transcript fits without being chopped up first. If your work is short prompts and quick answers, the difference will not show up and the cheaper option wins.

Rytr writes captions, product descriptions, emails and outlines from a tone and a brief, and it is the one people name when the question is which AI writer costs the least. The output needs editing and it does not pretend otherwise. The free plan is 10,000 characters a month, which is enough to find out whether the voice it produces is one you can work with.
Choose Claude for long-form work you want closer to finished on the first pass: research folded in, a full transcript handled at once, drafts that hold together without a heavy rewrite. It costs more than Rytr, $20 against $7.50 a month, and the free tier already includes web search and memory to test that difference first.
Choose Rytr for high-volume short copy where speed and price matter more than polish: captions, descriptions, subject lines produced fast and edited by you afterward. Unlimited generation is $7.50 a month, the cheapest paid tier in the category, and the free plan's 10,000 characters a month is enough to judge whether its voice suits you before paying anything. If you find yourself rewriting every line it produces, the saving was not real and a dearer, more capable assistant is the better buy.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
The price is the whole argument. If a caption tool at $7.50 a month is enough, this is the one; if you find yourself rewriting every sentence it produces, you wanted Jasper or Copy.ai and the saving was not real.
