Running the business
Castr is built around live streaming, hosting and a paywall, from $19.99 a month. Uscreen is a video membership platform with its own phone and television apps, from $49 a month for up to a hundred subscribers with no per-subscriber fee below that cap. Live streaming is a small included feature on Uscreen, an hour free, where it is the whole point of Castr.

Live streaming with hosting and a paywall
Castr covers the parts of streaming that sit either side of the broadcast: hosting the recording afterwards, running a 24/7 playout channel, and putting a paywall in front of either. Bandwidth is sold as a pool rather than metered per viewer. It is priced for a business running channels, not for somebody going live on a Sunday.

A video membership with its own apps
Uscreen is for creators who want subscribers paying for a library rather than viewers watching an ad, and it will ship that library as a phone and television app under your own name. The entry plan takes no cut of a subscription and caps you at a hundred subscribers, so the pricing pushes growth toward the tier with a per-subscriber fee. One-time sales are charged at ten percent on that first plan.
Our note
The pricing is designed to move you off the first plan, and it does that at exactly a hundred subscribers. Work out what Pro costs at your target audience size before starting, because at five hundred subscribers the fee is most of the bill.
Castr is the cheaper and more direct choice for a business built around live broadcasts: scheduled channels, a paywall on the stream itself, and bandwidth sold as a yearly pool rather than metered per viewer. Its live features go far deeper than Uscreen's included hour.
Uscreen is worth the higher price for a creator building a paid content library, fitness, cooking or instruction, who wants subscribers on a branded phone and television app rather than just a stream. The flat $49 up to a hundred subscribers keeps the first year cheap, but the per-subscriber fee on Pro at $1.99 each is worth modelling against your target audience size before committing.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
