Making the work
Growing an audience
Running the business
Castmagic is built for one job: turn a recorded episode into show notes, clips, a newsletter and social posts, from $19 a month billed yearly. Claude is a general assistant with a 200k-token context window on every plan, free to start and $20 a month for Pro, that can do the same repurposing if you feed it the transcript yourself. The choice is a finished pipeline against a longer, cheaper way to do it by hand.

Turn an episode into a week of posts
Castmagic takes a recorded episode and returns show notes, timestamps, clips, a newsletter and social posts from the same upload, which is the repurposing job most podcasters do by hand on a Monday. Custom prompts let you fix the house style once. Hours are a library total rather than monthly, so a long back catalogue eats a plan on import.

A writing and reasoning assistant with a long memory
Claude is an assistant built by Anthropic for work that runs long: a full script rather than a paragraph, a spreadsheet of sponsor replies rather than one email. The free plan covers web search, file creation and memory across conversations. Pro adds more usage, unlimited projects, research and the ability to connect Slack and Google Workspace. The context window is 200k tokens on every plan, which in practice means a long transcript or a stack of documents goes in whole rather than in pieces.
Castmagic is worth the subscription for a weekly show that currently spends a Monday cutting the episode into posts by hand. Custom prompts fix the house style once, so every later episode comes out matching it without repeating instructions each time. The 30 hours on the cheapest plan are a library total rather than a monthly refill, so importing an old back catalogue can use up the plan before a new episode is even published.
Claude is the cheaper and more flexible route if you would rather drive the process yourself: paste in a transcript, and the 200k-token window takes a full two-hour recording without chopping it up first. The free plan already includes memory and web search, so it costs nothing to find out whether writing your own show notes each week is a job worth keeping.

Shaded rows are where the two answers disagree and both listings have answered. A row where one side has not stated a fact is left plain, because silence is not a difference.
Our note
The reason to choose this over the other assistants is usually the context window: work that involves a long document or a full transcript fits without being chopped up first. If your work is short prompts and quick answers, the difference will not show up and the cheaper option wins.
